A friend and I had a conversation about this yesterday. Are we nerds or are we geeks? Are we neither? We kept going over the things that we thought made us nerdy. Several key things jumped to mind. Our obsession with technology, our obsession to know how that technology works, and our obsession with this thing we call...the internet.
The internet is this huge, unforgiving place. In this other dimension you have access to information on anything you can imagine. We began to realize that our generation cannot outrun the grasps of nerdiness for one simple reason. The internet! We have access to anything we want at all times and it is accessible with just a few key strokes.
I don't think this a bad thing though, don't get me wrong. The internet could be what saves our fine country from the damnation of retardation.
True dat
ReplyDeleteYou're both. :P
ReplyDeleteGeeky and Nerdy=Good
ReplyDeleteGeek and Nery=Bad
Hmm we're all both
ReplyDeleteYour location is hardly a definition of your personification (lulz that rhymed). However, the internet not only helps but hurts. Think about it, no longer must we exercise our brain by memorizing facts and ratios (e.g. a gallon to a every 4 quarts) we need only to google it. So, you're not a nerd, you're a naturally curious human being.
ReplyDeleteHaha, anytime I see that photo I just wonder what that room smelled of. Coffee and ink? Just 1980's office building which smelled of those water cooler paper cup-cones? Haha
ReplyDeleteThat dude probably got older and sold his ideas and became a milionaire...or he is still there and plays WOW lol

ReplyDeleteLogical, I like it, Maybe you can call it "the nerd/geek effect"
ReplyDeleteI think we all are a little bit of both.
ReplyDeleteThe internet has become so mainstream that the being nerdy and geeky is something that we all can relate to. There isn't as much "inside jokes" with geeks because everyone knows about the games and stuff.
